The specialists of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov participated in the scientific and practical conference “Likhachyovs. Life as service to the Fatherland”

On November 9-11, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Likhachyovs. Life as service to the Fatherland”, dedicated to the 196th anniversary of the birth of Vice Admiral of the Russian Navy and public figure Ivan Fyodorovich Likhachyov (1826-1907), to the 190th anniversary of the birth of collector and researcher Andrei Fyodorovich Likhachyov (1832-1890) and to the 160th anniversary of the birth of collector, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Petrovich Likhachyov (1862-1936).

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Central Naval Museum after the Emperor Peter the Great, the State Hermitage Museum, the State Russian Museum, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The conference was attended by scientists and museum staff from Kazan, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Institute of Archaeology named  after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences was represented at this event by specialists of the Medieval Archaeology Department.

During the conference the exhibition “Likhachyovs  – Kazan Governorate natives in the service of the Fatherland” was opened in the main building of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. It will run until February 12.
