Studies by the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov at Selitrennoye Settlement and the Complex of Mausoleums near Lapas Village (Astrakhan Oblast)

In April 2022, the expedition of the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, within the framework of the State Program of the Republic of Tatarstan “Preservation of the National Identity of the Tatar People (2020-2024)”, carried out natural scientific studies at Selitrennoye settlement and the complex of khan’s mausoleums near Lapas village (Kharabalinsky District, Astrakhan Oblast). The activities continue the studies of 2018 and 2020-2021.

In the course of the studies in 2022, a topographic survey of Selitrennoye settlement and geophysical exploration of the territory of the mausoleums near Lapas village were performed. The area of magnetometric studies amounted to 40,000 square meters in 2022. The total area of geophysical exploration of the complex of Khan’s mausoleums near Lapas village in 2018 and 2020-2022 exceeds 10 hectares.

As a result of the studies, the dimensions of the central mausoleum were specified, and new data on its planigraphy was obtained.
