Presentation of the Album “Lines of Growth. Monuments of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Borderlands of Russia in the 16th-18th Centuries” in Volgograd.

On April 27, 2022, historical and educational events dedicated to the 350th Anniversary of Peter the Great were held at the “Battle of Stalingrad” State Historical and Memorial Preserve.

The events were attended by: Alexander Voronko, Director of the Department of Museums and Foreign Relations of the Russian Ministry of Culture, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Executive Director of the “History of the Fatherland” Foundation, Alexei Levykin, Director of the State Historical Museum, Stanislav Malykh, Chairman of the Committee of Culture of Volgograd Oblast, Alexei Dementiev, Director of the “Battle of Stalingrad” State Historical and Memorial Preserve, and others.

At the plenary session, Head of the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences presented the album “Lines of Growth. Monuments of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Borderlands of Russia in the 16th–18th Centuries”, which contains materials on the current state of cultural heritage sites in 19 regions of the Russian Federation related to the history of fortifications and defensive lines of that time period. The project was implemented with the support of the History of the Fatherland Foundation and the Russian Historical Society.

The reports presented at the meeting also covered various aspects of the activities of Peter the Great, study and preservation of monuments of the Peter’s period.

The events included the opening of the “Peter the Great” Traveling Exhibition Project, presenting the documentary, cartographic and graphical monuments of the Peter’s period from the collections of the State Historical Museum.
