Interactive exhibition project “The city of Ukek and its districts”

On April 14, 2023 in Saratov in the Historical Park “Russia – My History” was held a presentation of a new interactive exhibition project ” Ukek city and its districts”. The exhibition was organized by the Historical Park “Russia – My History” together with the Saratov regional museum of local history, Engels museum of local history and ANO “Living History” within the project ” Ukek Project: Our Land – Our History”, supported by the Presidential Grants Foundation and Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.

For the first time on one exhibition platform are widely represented findings of the Golden Horde period from the territories of 40 archaeological sites of Saratov and Volgograd regions. Special attention is paid to the materials from the Uvek ancient urban settlement (medieval city of Ukek), that is studied within the framework of the state program “Preservation of the national identity of the Tatar people”.

At the opening of the exhibition Doctor of Historical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences A.G. Sitdikov made a welcoming speech. In addition, the opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Saratov region V.A. Barketov, Director of the Saratov regional museum of local history Ye.M. Kazantsev, deputy of the Saratov Oblast Duma, regional coordinator of “Historical Memory” project of the party “United Russia”, Chairman of the Saratov regional branch of the All-Russian public-state organization “Union of Women of Russia” Yu.M. Litnevskaya. The presentation tour was conducted by the director of the Saratov Historical Park D.A. Kubankin.

As part of a visit to Saratov, the delegation of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences represented by the Director A.G. Sitdikov and the Senior Research Fellow R.R. Valiev met with the members of the Regional Tatar National and Cultural Autonomy of the Saratov region. At the meeting there were discussed the issues of organization of the archeological expedition of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences in the Saratov region within the framework of cooperation with the Regional Tatar National and Cultural Autonomy of the Saratov region.
