Archaeological studies in the Nizhny Novgorod region

Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences jointly with Samara National Research University named after academician S.P. Korolev and the Institute of Archaeology RAS conducts security and rescue research at the Pilna I cemetery without mounds in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Pilna I cemetery without mounds belongs to the sites of the Piseraly-Andreyevka type of the I-III centuries AD. The current state of the burial ground is recognised as extremely unsatisfactory because of the illegal predatory excavations, carried out there for several years.

In addition to the employees of scientific and scientific-educational institutions, mentioned above, the expedition was supported by the student archaeological team “Meridian”, created on the basis of the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”.
