10th anniversary of “Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya” journal

On March 23, 2023 Mari State University held a round table dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the international peer-reviewed “Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya” (Volga Region Archaeology) journal, that publishes the results of archaeological studies carried out not only in the Volga region, but also throughout the entire space of Eurasia, demonstrates the latest achievements in archaeology. The journal has been published since 2012 by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and Mari State University.

The round table meeting was opened by the Rector of Mari State University, Doctor of Economics, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Mikhail Nikolaevich Shvetsov. The papers were presented by the Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Editor-in-chief of the journal Airat Gabitovich Sitdikov, Senior Research Fellow at the Medieval Archaeology Department of the Institute of Archaeology of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, First Deputy Chief Editor of the journal Fayaz Sharipovich Khuzin, Head of the Department, Assistant Professor of the Department of General History MarSU, Deputy Chief Editor of the journal Yuri Anatolyevich Zeleneyev and Head of the Educational and Scientific Archaeological and Ethnological Center of MarSU Yevgeny Mikhailovich Pigarev. In their speeches they told about the history of the journal and prospects of its development, about its place in the international scientific and information space, the contribution of scientists of Tatarstan and Mari El to the journal and archaeological community activity process and the planned results of further work.

The participants emphasized the importance of the close relationship between the Mari State University and the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and discussed further joint activities to develop the journal.
