The Tatarstan Academy of Sciences will host the presentation of the seven-volume edition “Archaeology of the Volga-Urals”

On October 26, 2023 at 9.00 in the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences will be the presentation of the seven-volume edition «Archaeology of the Volga-Urals».

The work on the preparation of the edition has been carried out since 2016 as part of the implementation of the State program “Preservation of the national identity of the Tatar people”. The author’s group consists of about 100 researchers – leading archaeologists from major scientific centers and universities of Kazan, Moscow, Ufa, Izhevsk, Samara, Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary, Saransk, Astrakhan, Syktyvkar, Kirov.

The seven-volume book “Archaeology of the Volga-Urals” is a modern academic view of at more than a century and a half of archaeological study experience in one of the most significant and unique historical and cultural areas of the Eurasian continent. The study allows us to take a new look at the archaeological data and make them the basis for a comprehensive reconstruction of the history of the population of the Volga-Ural region from ancient times to early modern period.

The presentation will include speeches by the President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences R.N. Minnikhanov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of the Institute of Archaeology RAS P.G. Gaidukov, Executive Director of the History of the Fatherland Foundation R.G. Gagkuyev, Director of the Mari Scientific Research Institute of Language, Literature and History named after V.M. Vasiliev L.Y. Grigoriyeva, Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences A.G. Sitdikov, editors of the volumes.

During the presentation, all volumes of the seven-volume edition “Archaeology of the Volga-Urals” will be presented.
