More than 20 scientists and researchers from scientific institutions of Moscow, Kazan and Samara took part in the seminar in online and offline formats. The presented papers discussed the topical problems of studying Volga region archaeology, the role and significance of A.P. Smirnov’s activities for the development of archaeology in the region and the formation of concepts of historical cognition.

The participants of the seminar pointed out the importance of holding such scientific events, that allow not only to discuss in detail the historical milestones in the development of archaeology of the Volga region, to realize the role and contribution of particular researchers to development of archaeological science, but also widened the horizons for future research tasks. Thus, it was noted that the Kuybyshev archaeological expedition held in 1950-1957 and as well as its participants deserve a separate publication, which would reflect all aspects of one of the big rescue expeditions of the mid-XX century.
