Scientific and practical forum in Veliky Novgorod on the results of archaeological schools

On December 1-2, 2022,  the scientific and practical forum on the results of archaeological schools was held in Veliky Novgorod. The organizers of the forum are the Fund “History of the Fatherland” and the Russian Historical Society with the assistance of  the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University, the Novgorod Museum-Reserve and the RHS branch in Veliky Novgorod.

On the first day of the forum  Deputy Governor of the Novgorod Oblast Igor Shkolnikov, Deputy Vice Rector for Education Affairs Anastasia Novikova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Archaeology Russian Academy of Sciences Pyotr  Gaidukov, Dean of the Faculty of History of Tver State University, member of the Board of the Fund “History of the Fatherland” Tatyana Leontyeva and Head of the Inspection of State Cultural Heritage Protection of the Novgorod Oblast Aleksey Kurochkin addressed welcoming words to the participants of the forum.

On the second day of the forum Chairman of the RHS Board, Executive Director of the Fund “History of the Fatherland” Konstantin Mogilevsky addressed the participants.

The forum was attended by more than 50 archaeologists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Volgograd, Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan, Lipetsk, Novosibirsk, Pskov, Tver, Ufa, Khanty-Mansiysk and Cherepovets, who have successful experience in organizing youth  archaeological schools with the support of the Fund “History of the Fatherland”. The Republic of Tatarstan in the conference was represented  by Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov, Candidate of Historical Sciences Ruzil Sattarov and Research Fellow of the  Primeval Archaeology Department Yekaterina Golubeva. The report presented the experience on the realization of the scientific and educational project “Youth Archaeological School”, annually (since 2014) conducted by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences together with the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.

Within the framework of the forum participants shared their experience of conducting  youth  archaeological schools for the in different regions of Russia, told about the problems that expeditions most often face  and suggested various ways to improve their work.
