Museum of Archaeology of the Republic of Tatarstan held an excursion within the project “Science is nearby”

On August 10, the Museum of Archaeology of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences hosted a group of youth, wishing to join the profession of archaeologist.

A scientific and educational excursion was held for the participants, where they got acquainted with the richest archaeological heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan, collected in the museum funds, and the main stages of working with finds.

Young people not just observed the laboratory treatment of objects, restoration activities, the work of museum specialists with archaeological artefacts, but also took a direct part in working with objects – systematization, packaging and taking measurements.

The excursion took place on the eve of the Archaeologist’s Day, which is celebrated on August 15. The project of the Museum of Archeology of the Republic of Tatarstan was supported by the ANO “National Priorities” within the initiative “Science is nearby” and the implementation of the action plan of the Decade of science and technology, the key task of which is to attract talented youth in the field of research and development. The format of scientific and educational excursions helps young people to join scientific research faster, realize its importance and serves as an effective method of professional orientation.
