We invite you to participate in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Wooden Age. Current Issues of the Study, Preservation and Presentation of Archaeological Heritage Sites”, dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the opening of Berestye Archaeological Museum.

The organizers of the conference are: State Scientific Institution “Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, Cultural Institution “Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore”, Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Environmental Institution “National Park Belovezhskaya Pushcha”.

Dates of the Conference: June 1-3, 2022

Venue: Brest, Cultural Institution “Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore”; State Environmental Institution “National Park Belovezhskaya Pushcha”.

Scope of the Conference:

• Study and preservation of the archaeological heritage of Belarus: conservation, restoration, museumification. Current issues and prospects;
• Archaeological wood items: issues of studying, methods of field study, conservation. History and contemporaneity (dedicated to the 110th Anniversary of V.E. Vikhrov);
• Current issues of archaeological studies of the material and spiritual culture of Belarus in the primeval period, the Middle Ages and the New Age;
• Interaction of museums, academic institutions, universities, research centers in the field of preservation of the archaeological heritage;
• Theoretical and practical issues of the use of archaeological heritage in the tourism sector.

During the conference, it is planned to conduct tours to the exposition of the “Berestye” Archaeological Museum and the adjacent territory (Brest), familiarize with the exposition of the “Kamenetskaya Tower” museum and the Open-Air Archaeological Museum in Belovezhskaya Pushcha (Kamianets, Kamenyuki, Kamenets District of Brest Region).

Working Languages: Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, English.

Form of Participation: full-time, part-time (posters, on-line participation).
