8th KHALIKOV READINGS. ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE URAL-VOLGA REGION: STUDY AND PRESERVATION ISSUES

A separate subdivision of GNBU “Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan” and GBUK RT “Bilyar State Historical, Archaeological and Natural Museum-Reserve” invite scientists and graduate students to participate in the 8th Khalikov Readings All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Archaeology of the Ural-Volga Region: Study and Preservation Issues” commemorating the 55th Anniversary of the combined Bilyar archaeological expedition.

The conference will be held in June 2022 (the dates will be clarified in upcoming information letters)

Venue of the Conference: Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan), Bilyar Historical, Archeological and Natural Museum-Reserve (Alekseevsky District, Republic of Tatarstan).

The following current issues of the archaeology of the Ural-Volga region are planned to be discussed within the framework of the conference: the cultural and historical processes of the Stone, Early Metal and Iron Ages, the processes of formation and operation of medieval urban centers, the relationship of the archaeological cultures of the Ural-Volga Region and the steppe zone of Eurasia. Also, a round table will be held, related to the issues of preserving the World Cultural Heritage (preservation, study, restoration).

The following main directions of the conference have been planned:

  1. Study of the Monuments of the Stone, Early Metal and Early Iron Age of the Ural-Volga Region and Adjacent Territories - New Materials, Hypotheses, Issues and Methods;
  2. Medieval Archaeology of the Ural-Volga Region and Adjacent Territories.
  3. Museum Studies and the Issues of Preservation, Study and Use of Cultural Heritage Sites;
  4. Researchers of the Ural-Volga Region and their Scientific Heritage.

The collection of papers will be published in a journal on the list of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals included by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia in the list of publications recommended for publishing the main scientific results of theses for Candidate and Doctor of Science.

Applications and publication materials should be sent to 8khalikovskie@mail.ru indicating the report subject: Halikovskie_2022.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 15, 2022, for papers - March 15, 2022.

The application should include: last name, first name, patronymic, academic degree and title, place of work, position, report title, direction, address, contact phone numbers and E-mail address (Appendix 1).

Format of submitted publication materials: up to 40 thousand characters (Appendix 2).

The submission of an application is considered as consent to the publication of the submitted materials. The organizing committee reserves the right to select/reject submitted applications and materials when forming the program and report collection.
