All-Russian Seminar with International Participation dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Renowned Russian Scientist Fayaz Sharipovich Khuzin

August 1, 2021 was the final day of the All-Russian Seminar with International Participation “Current Issues of the Medieval Archaeology of the Volga-Ural Region” dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the renowned Russian scientist, Doctor of History, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan F. Sh. Khuzin. The event was organized by the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan in collaboration with the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Bilyar State Historical-Archaeological and Natural Museum-Reserve and Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.

The seminar was held from July 30, 2021 to August 01, 2021 in Kazan, Bolgar and Bilyarsk. The opening of the seminar was held in the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. At the plenary session, the seminar participants noted F. Sh. Khuzin’s scientific achievements and contribution. President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan M.Kh. Salakhov presented the celebrant with a greeting card on behalf of M.Sh. Shaimiev, State Counselor of Tatarstan, and a gold medal of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan for outstanding scientific achievements. The gold medal is the Academy’s highest award.

The round table meetings in Bolgar and Bilyarsk were attended by 46 archaeologists representing the scientific centers of the Russian Federation (Astrakhan, Bolgar, Izhevsk, Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Moscow, Perm, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Cheboksary) and far abroad (Antalya, Turkey; Sofia, Bulgaria; Ottawa, Canada). The seminar featured a discussion of the current issues related to the preservation and study of the archaeological monuments of the Volga-Ural region of the 8th-10th centuries.

The participants of the All-Russian Seminar with International Participation noted the high scientific level of reports, good organization, creative atmosphere, efficiency and success of the scientific event.
