The series “Materials and studies on the archaeology of Great Bolgar” has been published since 2018 by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences jointly with the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The monograph “Studies of pottery production at Lake Galanskoye of the Bolgar settlement” continues the series of publications on the archaeology of the Bolgar settlement (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site). It is dedicated to the publication of the results of studies on pottery kilns in the western part of the medieval city. Comprehensive archaeological studies were carried out as a part of the project “Cultural Heritage – Island-city of Sviyazhsk and Ancient Bolgar”. During 2016 investigations at the excavation CCXVI, pottery-baking kilns, united by a large pit common to all these structures, were revealed. All four pottery kilns and their associated auxiliary structures functioned simultaneously. The time of functioning of the pottery production complexes is determined within the range of 1330-1350.
The monograph is intended for historians, archaeologists, ethnographers, museologists, specialists in the history of cultural heritage and has great cognitive value for a wide range of readers.
