“Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya” (The Volga River Region Archaeology) and “Archaeology of the Eurasian Steppes” are among the best international journals

The international research organization SCimago, based in Spain, has published the annual ranking of scientific journals for 2023.

The journals “Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya” (The Volga River Region Archaeology) and “Archaeology of Eurasian Steppes” published by the Tatarstan Academy are included in the quartile – Q1 (the highest of the four levels). This quartile system makes it possible to assess objectively the scientific quality and level of the journal regardless of the subject field.

According to the results of the analysis the journal “Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya” got the 6th position out of all 567 Russian journals (in 2022 – 123rd place out of 566) and the 2nd place out of 18 social science journals in the subject ranking “Archaeology” (in 2022 – 8th place out of 16).

At drawing up of world rankings SCImago is focused on scientific indicators and scientific output, indexed in Scopus database.
