Materials from the excavations of the Golden Horde city of Ukek were presented at the interregional conference “Muslims of Russia – 1100-year history, challenges of the present, a look into the future”
On December 17, the interregional conference “Muslims of Russia – 1100-year history, challenges of the present, a look into the future” was held in Saratov in the Historical Park “Russia – My History”. The event was dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. The conference was organized by the Muslim Spiritual Board of the Saratov Oblast with the support of the Saratov Oblast Government, the Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia, the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education.
The forum was attended by scientists, public and religious figures from Moscow, Kazan and the Volga regions. Director of the Saratov Historical Park Dmitriy Aleksandrovich Kubankin made a report “The Golden Horde city of Ukek according to the data of archaeological studies in 2005-2021”, where were presented the results of joint research of Ukek by the Historical Park and the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. Also, an exhibition dedicated to the joint study of Ukek by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov and the Saratov Historical Park “Russia – My History” was organized for the conference.
As part of the conference, a multimedia exhibition dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria population was held in the Historical Park.
