A.G. Sitdikov. Kazan Kremlin: Historical and Archaeological Study. – Kazan, 2006. – 288 p.: Illustrated.
The book summarizes a large archaeological material reflecting the early stages of the history of Kazan - from its foundation at the turn of the 11th century to the 17th century. Based on the study of the stratigraphy and chronology of the cultural layer of the Kremlin, the author traces the dynamics of the territorial development of the medieval city, reconstructs its historical topography, and localizes the architectural structures referred to in written sources. The study is based on new materials obtained at the excavations conducted by the Kazan Kremlin archaeological expedition in 1994-2003.
The book is intended for archaeologists, historians, museum workers and anyone interested in the history of Kazan.
