Archaeological studies in Mongolia
On July 28, 2023 the work of the archaeological expedition of scientists of the Republic of Tatarstan to Mongolia began. The expedition includes specialists from Kazan Federal University and the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
A round table was held with scientists from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the Mongolian State University on the problems of archaeology of medieval steppe Eurasia and prospects for joint research.
The work of the archaeological expedition continues the long-term research on the study of the northern capital of the Uyghur Kaganate – Bai-Balyk (Biybulag settlement) and other sites in Northern Mongolia associated with the Turkic world. The expedition was organized by the Institute of Archaeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Archaeology and History of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences within the framework of the State Program of the Republic of Tatarstan “Preservation of the national identity of the Tatar people”.
