XI International Archaeological School

The first stage of the International Archaeological School will be held at the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve from August 13 to 26, 2024. This year it will be organized for the eleventh time. The organizers of the scientific and educational project are the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve and the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan). At the first stage, the focus of attention and study will be on archaeobiological areas: archaeobotany and palaeopedology, archaeozoology and palaeoanthropology.

The second stage of the School will be held on the basis of Termez State University from September 23 to October 06, 2024 in Termez, Republic of Uzbekistan. At this stage the attention of the participants will be focused on such areas as: field conservation and restoration of archaeological finds made of ceramics and metal; photogrammetry, restoration and 3D-modeling of archaeological structures and architectural objects; basic principles of the methodology of experimental and traceological analysis analysis of the functions of ancient tools.

The International Archaeological School traditionally unites undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate students, young specialists in an intensive, two-week study of various scientific directions in archaeology, related fields and in the field of preservation of archaeological heritage under the guidance of specialists from leading scientific centers. The participants of the School will come from different regions of Russia, as well as from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Egypt. The lecturers will be leading specialists from scientific and educational centers of Russia, Uzbekistan, France and Bulgaria.
