Scientific and practical forum on the study of Russian fortification sites of the XVI-XIX centuries
On October 30, Moscow hosted a scientific and practical forum dedicated to the study of fortification sites of the XVI-XIX centuries. This event is organized by the Russian Historical Society and the History of the Fatherland Foundation.
The forum was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the Russian Historical Society K.I. Mogilevsky, chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, executive director of the Fatherland Foundation R.G. Gagkuyeva, as well as specialists in fortifications of the XVI-XIX centuries from Arkhangelsk, Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Lipetsk, Omsk, Penza, Rostov, Sakhalin, Tyumen regions and the republics of Mari El and Tatarstan.
During the event the results of the comprehensive project of the Russian Historical Society on the study, preservation and popularization of the Russian zasechnaya lines sites were presented.
A.G. Sitdikov, Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Doctor of History, Professor, Academician of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, made a report on the results of the project “Zasechnaya lines of Russia” in 2022-2023. He presented the results of the works and prepared materials on the study of the defensive lines in Siberia and the Far East within the preparation of the 2nd volume of the book “Lines of growth. Monuments of the historical and cultural heritage of the borderlands of Russia in the XVI-XVIII centuries”.
The forum also presented reports on the implementation of projects of the Russian Historical Society in the Belgorod region (V.M. Zhigalov), on the results and prospects of studying the Belgorod line (A.N. Bessudnov), on the unknown plan of the Tsaritsyn line (I.O. Tyumentsev), fortification of the Russian state in the Volga region in the XVII-XVIII centuries (Yu.A. Zeleneyev), Penza zasechnaya line (G.N. Belorybkin), on the results and prospects of work on the New-Ishim and Old-Ishim lines of fortifications of the XVIII century (M.A. Korusenko), organization of protection of the Arctic borders of Russia in the XVI-XIX centuries. (I.M. Gostev), as well as the experience of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts, the State Archaeological Museum-Reserve “Kostenki”, the Center for Military History of Russia of the Institute of Russian History RAS and the Southern Federal University in the field of preservation and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the Russian borderlands of the XVI-XIX centuries. In addition to the reports, there was a presentation of “Lines of growth” video clips and a design layout of the memorial sign of the zasechnaya lines of Russia.
