Scientific and methodological seminar “Current issues in Tatar Studies. Eastern Zakamye”
On March 21, 2025, in Naberezhnye Chelny, a scientific-methodological seminar “Current issues in Tatar Studies: Eastern Zakamye” was held as part of implementing the directives of Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event aimed to combat the distortion of Tatar history.
This seminar brought together librarians and museum professionals from the Aktanysh, Zainsk, Menzelinsk, Tukayevskiy, Yelabuga, Mendeleevsk, and Nizhnekamsk districts, as well as the city of Naberezhnye Chelny.
Researchers from the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences delivered presentations on a wide array of topics, spanning the region’s history—from pivotal events in ancient and medieval times to Tatarstan’s contributions during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945).
The Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov was represented by junior research fellow at the Museum of Archaeology N.R. Sadriev, who introduced the audience to the history of archaeological research in the region. He outlined the key stages of study—from small-scale exploratory work in the early XX century to large-scale systematic research in the mid-century and modern investigations, including the archaeological study of Naberezhnye Chelny.
