Presentation of the seven-volume publication “Archaeology of the Volga- Urals” at the Russian Historical Society
The presentation of the seven-volume publication “Archaeology of the Volga-Urals”, prepared by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences”, was held within the round table “Application of new technologies in archaeology for the preservation of objects of material heritage” chaired by S.Ye. Naryshkin and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation K.I. Mogilevsky in the Russian Historical Society on March 1, 2024.
The seven-volume publication “Archaeology of the Volga-Urals” represents a modern academic view of the leading archaeologists from major scientific centers and universities of Russia on more than one and a half centuries of archaeological research experience of one of the most significant and unique historical and cultural areas of the Eurasian continent.
The round table was attended by representatives of the historical and archaeological scientific community of Russia.
They discussed the experience accumulated by Russian specialists during the restoration of the destroyed Monumental Arch of Palmyra, the experience of studying and museumification of wooden medieval buildings, creation of virtual tours of archaeological sites, modern issues of rock art research, development of geoinformation systems. A.G. Sitdikov, the Head of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, made a report on the study and museumification of wooden medieval buildings of Sviyazhsk. He presented the history of archaeological study of Sviyazhsk, and also spoke about the problems of conservation and museumification of wooden archaeological objects.
