Nuclear physics and chemistry in the study of historical and cultural heritage sites: I International Seminar “Non-destructive methods in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage sites in Central Asia”

On October 07, 2024, the I International scientific and practical seminar “Non-destructive methods in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage sites in Central Asia” was held in the Termez State University.

The co-organizers of this scientific event are Termez State University (Termez, Uzbekistan), International Institute for Central Asian Studies (Samarkand, Uzbekistan), Tatarstan Academy of Sciences (Kazan, Russia), Kazan Federal University (Kazan, Russia), Termez Archaeological Museum (Termez, Uzbekistan), Samarkand Archaeological Institute named after Yahyo Gulamov (Samarkand, Uzbekistan), Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg, Russia), Northwestern University ( Xi’an, China), with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The plenary session included welcome speeches by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Termez State University, Deputy Director of the School of Cultural Heritage of Northwest Xi’an University, a representative of the Institute for the History of Material Culture RAS, Head of the Department of History of Uzbekistan and Source Studies of Termez State University and other scholars.

The Seminar discusses the development of methodological and methodological approaches in carrying out joint interdisciplinary research works aimed at preserving historical and cultural heritage sites. “Application of nuclear-physical methods for research of cultural heritage sites”, “Prospects and possibilities of development of non-destructive methods for research of cultural heritage sites in Central Asia”, “Physicochemical research in conservation and restoration of historical and cultural heritage sites in Central Asia”.
The Seminar will be attended by more than 70 participants from 13 countries: Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Egypt, Bulgaria, Syria, Mexico.
