Museum of the Spasskaya Tower opens in the Kazan Kremlin
A museum dedicated to the fortification of the fortress and the Spasskaya Tower at different historical stages will be opened in the building of the Spasskaya Tower on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve.
Employees of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences participated in the creation of the museum exposition under the overall guidance of the Director of the Institute, Doctor of History, Academician of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Ayrat G. Sitdikov. The specialists of the Institute prepared the concept of the museum, carried out scientific consultation. The exposition is based on materials from the funds of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve and the Museum of Archaeology of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The museum exposition develop the theme of military history of the Kazan Kremlin and has a great significance in understanding the rich culture of our Motherland, as well as counteracts the falsification of history.
The exposition consists of several parts and acquaints visitors with the history of the walls and towers of the Kazan Kremlin, as well as with the changes that occurred with them. An important part of the exposition is the history of the Spasskaya Tower itself. It shows how it was changing, how the tiers were being built, and when the famous clock and star appeared. A separate section of the exposition is dedicated to fortifications, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
