Exhibition of Tatarstan archaeological antiquities opened in the Kazan Kremlin

On April 18, 2024, the exhibition “In search of ancient kingdoms…”, prepared by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve, opened in the Manege Exhibition Hall. The exhibition is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Archaeology TAS.

President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences R.N. Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Committee for Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Republic of Tatarstan I.N. Gushchin, Director of the Kazan Icon Museum V.Yu. Sorokin, Director of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve I.S. Rakhimov, Director of the Institute of Archaeology TAS A.G. Sitdikov. Visitors and guests of the solemn event got acquainted with the exposition and listened to the author’s excursion by A.G.Sitdikov.

The exhibition demonstrates unique items from archaeological excavations of different years at significant sites of our republic, which are archaeological treasures of Tatarstan. The chronology of the exhibition covers the period from the Stone Age (XX-XV thousand years ago) to modern archaeology (early XX century), sections and themes are related to key events and phenomena in the ancient, medieval and new history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and Eastern Europe as a whole.

The partners of the exhibition project and the Institute that provided their exhibits for the exhibition were the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, the Museum-Reserve “Island-Сity Sviyazhsk” , the Museum of the Kazan Icons, where kept the richest historical and cultural heritage of the republic. The exhibition will run until November 2024.
