Archaeology and reconstruction festival «Ukek»

e XII Festival of archaeology and reconstruction “Ukek”was held in Saratov. It is aimed at popularization of the archaeological heritage of the Uvek settlement (Golden Horde city of Ukek).
The festival was organizeded by the “Historical Park “My History” in Saratov, the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. This event, held on the territory of the medieval city, has been bringing a lot of local historians, reenactors and history amateurs (more than 40 thousand people) together for many years.
The XII festival was attended by the specialists of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.H. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences: P.Yu. Kaplan and P.V. Fedan, research fellows of the Museum of Archaeology of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as G.M. Sayfutdinova, head of the department of geoinformation technologies.
P.Yu. Kaplan and P.V. Fedan presented the Kazan Restoration School and conducted a master class for the festival participants on the conservation of archaeological finds made of ceramics and iron.
G.M. Saifutdinova made a report «Geoinformation systems in the study and preservation of cultural heritage objects ». The festival presented the results of geodetic investigations and experience of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the study and preservation of archaeological heritage objects, including the archaeological excavations on the Uvek settlement. The study of this site was conducted as a part of the State Program «Preservation of the national identity of the Tatar people».
