A seminar “Ural-Volga region in the early Iron Age and the Middle Ages” was held in the Republic of Bashkortostan

On August 17, 2023, a scientific field seminar “Ural-Volga region in the early Iron Age and the Middle Ages” was held in the Burayevo district of the Republic of Bashkortostan following the results of the first joint archaeological excavations on the Bustanayevo barrow field of the  of the Great Migration period. The seminar was organised by the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Ethnological Studies of R.G. Kuzeev USC RAS.
The event was organized as a part of the plan on joint scientific research in 2023-2025 between Ufa Federal Research Centre RAS and the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
More than 30 participants took part in the seminar: archaeologists, researchers, students, local historians, teachers and employees of the district administration of the Burayevo district.
Director of the Institute of Ethnological Studies of R.G. Kuzeev USC RAS, Doctor of Law, Professor Sergey M. Emelin and Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Doctor of History, Professor, Academician of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Ayrat G. Sitdikov addressed the participants with a speech of welcome.

Kolonskikh Aleksander Gennadyevich, Junior Research Fellow of the Department of the Archaeological Heritage of the Southern Urals, the Institute of Ethnological Studies of R.G. Kuzeev USC RAS.
Topic: “Monuments of the Great Migration period in the Ufa-Belaya interfluve”.
Tuzbekov Ainur Ilfatovich, Head of the Department of the Archaeological Heritage of the Southern Urals, the Institute of Ethnological Studies of R.G. Kuzeev USC RAS, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
Topic: “Objects of historical and cultural heritage of northern and north-western Bashkortostan: problems, solutions”.
Sitdikov Ayrat Gabitovich, Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
Topic: “Urbanization of the Volga region in the Middle Ages”.
 
The seminar participants noted the importance of joint research, good organization, creative atmosphere, effectiveness and success of the scientific event.
