95th anniversary of the birth of Prof. A.Kh. Khalikov was celebrated at the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences

May 30 marked the 95th anniversary of the birth of Alfred Khasanovich Khalikov, Doctor of History, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Tatar ASSR. An expanded meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences was dedicated to this event. The meeting of the Academic Council was part of a series of events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Archaeology TAS.
Relatives, colleagues, students and friends of Alfred Khalikov from Moscow, Kazan, Yoshkar-Ola, Penza, Samara, students of Kazan (Volga Region) University – more than 70 people in total – took part in the meeting in online and offline formats.
Aynur Timerkhanov, Vice President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences; Ayrat Sitdikov, Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciencies; Fayaz Khuzin, Chief Research Fellow at the Medieval Archaeology Department of the Institute; Rafael Valeev, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations KFU and Zufar Shakirov, Director of the Bilyar State Historical, Archaeological and Natural Museum-Reserve made speeches at the meeting.
Daughter Yelena Khalikova and son Mikhail Khalikov shared their memories of A.Kh. Khalikov as a father and mentor.
After the meeting the staff of the Institute of Archaeology TAS and colleagues from other regions honored the memory of Alfred Khasanovich Khalikov and other outstanding archaeologists of Tatarstan by visiting the Novo-Tatarskoye, Arkhangelskoye and Arskoye cemeteries.
